We’re Getting excited for Luscious Cabaret – it’s less than one week to go! So with that in mind we learn a little bit more about this month’s luscious performers.

We’ve asked them where – or for whom – they would most like to perform one day? Here’s what they said…

The ultimate drag star – Dolly Trolley

“If we dare to dream, the pyramid stage at Glastonbury would be my pick…with 30 backing dancers in shopping trolleys. I’ve loved going to festivals since I was a teenager and enormous stages with tons of productions and sprawling crowds make me go weak at the knees. And if I could pick Lady Gaga and Tom Daley to be in the audience too, then they would be the juiciest cherries on top of the cake.”
The boss herself – Little Lady Luscious
I think the obvious answer is ballet dancing Darth Vader at the Royal Albert Hall.  The tiniest Darth Vader in that epic venue would be amazing!

Character Comedian – Gemma Layton
“I would most like to perform either with the League of Gentlemen or in front of Rick Astley (the latter purely as a way to dazzle him and seduce him).”
Burlesque Beauty – Ruby Panther
“I’d really like to go back to the strange little hotel I first saw a burlesque competition in, to bring things full circle and maybe even inspire someone else to get involved in this wonderful world.”

The gorgeous – Purrsia Kitt
Picture: Carl Manners
“I would love to perform somewhere on Broadway someday if the right opportunity came along.”
And our new Compere beyond Compare Paulus!
Picture: James Millar

“As many of you know, Bette Midler is my spirit animal, so I’d like to perform one day in a bath-house/sauna just like she did when she was first starting out. I would like said bath-house to be populated entirely by the cast of Orange Is The New Black wearing nothing but white fluffy towels. Tunnocks tea cakes will be served at half time.”

This month Stormina has been wandering around Nude – Yes that’s right; her full foof and everything at Hooray Cabaret’s 6th Birthday show at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. Everyone who follows this blog, and I know everyone does, knows that Stormina loves a themed show and always enjoys a Hooray.

For this show, in aid of Cancer Research, they choose to celebrate their birthday in their birthday suits with almost all acts (Dave the Bear you let us down…) appearing fully nude and audience encouraged to do the same.

Hooray always has a really appealing mixture of comedy, cabaret and games. This month there was a mixture of five comedians, all fully nude and burlesque, fire and boylesque. Highlights included, Glory Pearl opened with a stunning striptease, despite being fully nude from the very beginning, A comedian performing a full routine of characters and impressions; entirely in the nude and Onyx Fatale (Twix) who was running the tech for the show, breaking out of the booth at the end to strip off and dance to Rihanna’s cake.

All is held together, nominally, by Victoria Kember, a co-producer of the show, who after getting the audience to strip her during a game of pass the parcel at the very top of the show, stayed naked throughout and demanded the full attention of the audience for her vagina for the rest of the night. She was funny, charming and outrageous and made the chaos that is a Hooray Cabaret seem normal and even necessary.

Stage Manager’s mention

This month’s Hooray was a really challenging one for the Stage Manager, Sirene Fox, with a ketchup covered stage first up after the interval. She was excellent at her job and all she had to put up with in the ensuing mayhem…

Also, full points for wearing bows all over her bum in a makeshift bustle. Yes.

Stormina’s top 3 moments

3.“I know it” The angriest thespian I have ever seen, when the audience started to join in on his rendition of To Be or Not To Be.

2.Glory Pearl getting stuck in her corset during her burlesque act. Handled with such poise, like one of the greats of our industry.

Food or Body Part – the best game of the night. Where a victim from the audience was pulled onto the stage, blindfolded and had either pieces of food or body parts placed into their hands to guess whether it was food or body part. Stitches.

Well Hello There …

Summer is well and truly in full swing but we’ve got some awesome things to look forward to in September!  Double trouble in the form of Little Lady Luscious & Trixi Tassels. Plus Luscious Cabaret has not one but two residencies!

It’s May The Fourth!!! And that can only mean one thing.  Luscious Cabaret is ready to play at The Albany!  We can’t wait to entertain you all tonight.  And today we meet our final performer the awesome Diane Spencer!!!

1. Lets get straight to it, Star Wars or Star Trek?  Star Trek – sorry!  But it was the thing I always watched when I got home from school!  Plus I found that the first three films of Star Wars didn’t have many characters I could really relate to, whereas Star Trek the Next Generation had Beverly Crusher – lady doctor and redhead.

2. What was your inspiration for your may the fourth routine?  I’m a standup comedian by trade and I take inspiration from real life.  Life is always changing and happening, and if you’re half paying attention you’ll have an emotional reaction to it, and that’s where I start.  What I’m doing is essentially my usual set, however I’ve modified it slightly in keeping with this exciting and special event.  Other than that, it’s a secret… 🙂
3. Do you believe in alien life?  Yes of course, the universe is huge, and even if we are the only sentient ones, which I very much doubt, there’s at least going to be some moss or sea creatures out there.
4.Your fav star wars character and why?  Tricky.  Hans Solo cos he’s funny and good looking, but then again I really like that new Jedi Rey, she seems to have her head screwed on correctly.  Any character that shows a flicker of a sense of humour always wins with me.
5.What do you enjoy about themed cabaret/burlesque nights?  The costumes!  I love the fact that the experience becomes immersive.
6. Fav star wars film  I guess, Return of the Jedi was great, but The Force Awakens was very very good too, but then considering what happens to one of my favourite characters, maybe not so much.
7. Talk us through your costume, did you make it, buy it? if you made it how easy was it/what were the challenges? What inspired you to use this costume.  This is a secret, you will have to come to the night.  Though I will say I attend comic cons and the stormtrooper and wookie outfits I see there are absolutely stunning.

8.Would you have crawled in your dead tauntauns belly?  Ew, no. Neither did Luke!  He was pushed.
9. If you could perform at another themed night, what would you like it to be?  Fifth Element – love the costumes!  Or perhaps a zombie themed night, like Resident Evil.
To find out what Diane will be wearing tonight come to The Albany.  Online tickets available until 4:30pm or you can buy tickets on the door.

With a name like Storm Hooper we couldn’t not book her for the May the Fourth Special.  Who’s her favourite character & what’s her favourite film?  Read on to find out!

1. Lets get straight to it, Star Wars or Star Trek?
My mums a massive Trekki, so I feel a sort of loyalty to that for that reason! But saying that, I have to that Star Wars for my stage name,, so 50/50?

2. What was your inspiration for your may the fourth routine?
The play on my stage name!

3. Do you believe in alien life?
Sure why not?

4.Your fav star wars character and why?
Storm Troopers.. if you see them they way I do…

5.What do you enjoy about themed cabaret/burlesque nights?
The chance to have fun, and be silly and let you’re inner geek shine!!

6. Fav star wars film
to be honest.. I don’t think I’ve seen them all. so can’t give a fair answer…

7. Talk us through your costume, did you make it, buy it? if you made it how easy was it/what were the challenges? What inspired you to use this costume.

Part was bought, and part sourced from existing outfits. I have A LOT of costumes.. so that bit wasn’t hard.. performing in a helmet with minimal vision though.. well I guess we shall wait and see!

8.Would you have crawled in your dead tauntauns belly?
I don’t think I’m geek enough to understand the question…

9. If you could perform at another themed night, what would you like it to be?

I’m obsessed with all things circus.. so that. or something just obscure and silly!

10. Without giving too much away what can we expect from your act?

Don’t judge a book by its cover…
There are still a few tickets left so you can see Storm Hooper in action!

We are very lucky to have this burlesque starlet available to perform for us this Friday.  You will find her being cheeky with the Folly Mixtures but this Friday she’ll be getting sexy with Chewbacca.  Meet the awesome Bootsy Bonafonté and what she’ll have in store for us at Luscious Cabaret …

1. Lets get straight to it, Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Wars, obvs!

2. What was your inspiration for your may the fourth routine?

Han Solo is an antifascist cowboy, I love the rock and roll style. He’s a heartbreaker! I wanted to play on that good-hearted rebel side of his.

3. Do you believe in alien life?

I would like to think there is another life form looking down at us and thinking how odd humans are – like how we pair up and share beds to shut down and recharge every night, and how we share tables to look at each other whilst we eat in restaurants? Just me?

4.Your fav star wars character and why?

Han Solo, because he’s a dude, and he gets to hang out with Chewie.

5.What do you enjoy about themed cabaret/burlesque nights?

The costumes of both the performers and audience!

6. Fav star wars film

Return of the Jedi – I love the Ewoks 😊

7. Talk us through your costume, did you make it, buy it? if you made it how easy was it/what were the challenges? What inspired you to use this costume.

Ask me this again the night before the show…

8.Would you have crawled in your dead tauntauns belly?

Nah, I’m vegan. And I wouldn’t be able to deal with the smell.

9. If you could perform at another themed night, what would you like it to be?

Ooo good question – maybe childhood toys?

10. Without giving too much away what can we expect from your act?

Something to do with Han Solo… 😉

The moment Little Lady Luscious set eyes on Dolly Trolley she knew a Star Wars themed show was needed.  Dolly’s take on Princess Leia is a must see act.  If you haven’t seen it yet get yourself to Luscious Cabaret this Friday.  To find out more and learn a bit more about what makes Dolly Trolley tick read on.

1. Lets get straight to it, Star Wars or Star Trek?
Star Wars, no contest (sorry)
2. What was your inspiration for your may the fourth routine?
I was laid in bed thinking about a new act, and glanced across my bedroom to the light saber I had recently been gifted in a Secret Santa. It spoke to me. It was my only hope.
3. Do you believe in alien life?
Of course. Lets assume that the universe is infinite and that there are an infinite number of planets. We know that for any given planet, there is a nonzero/ positive probability of its conditions being able to sustain life and life existing on it (evidenced by the fact that we exist). An inevitable consequence of this is that it is likely that more life exists beyond us… in fact an infinite number of alien inhabited planets beyond us …. #maths.
4.Your fav star wars character and why?
Jar Jar Binks – for calling people out on being RUDE.
5.What do you enjoy about themed cabaret/burlesque nights?
They’re like extra spin-off episodes, and its fun to contemplate the extra, and slightly naughty things that are going on when the cameras aren’t rolling.
6. Fav star wars film
II: Attack of the Clones. Because Hayden Christensen **drools**
7. Talk us through your costume, did you make it, buy it? if you made it how easy was it/what were the challenges? What inspired you to use this costume.
Its base is a swimming costume, but I made and constructed the rest of the elects (there are MANY) myself with some very botchy crafts skills. My headpiece once broke 5 minutes before going on stage with it – I fixed it with a shoelace.
8.Would you have crawled in your dead tauntauns belly?
Oo no, my costume is white – can’t be getting that dirty!
9. If you could perform at another themed night, what would you like it to be?
I’m also a keen cook in my spare time – Masterchef theme?
10. Without giving too much away what can we expect from your act?
Princess Leia x 1000, and sticking it to the men who treat us like garbage!

Grab your tickets while you can and we’ll see you for another epic Luscious Cabaret!
