We’re Getting excited for Luscious Cabaret – it’s less than one week to go! So with that in mind we learn a little bit more about this month’s luscious performers.

We’ve asked them where – or for whom – they would most like to perform one day? Here’s what they said…

The ultimate drag star – Dolly Trolley

“If we dare to dream, the pyramid stage at Glastonbury would be my pick…with 30 backing dancers in shopping trolleys. I’ve loved going to festivals since I was a teenager and enormous stages with tons of productions and sprawling crowds make me go weak at the knees. And if I could pick Lady Gaga and Tom Daley to be in the audience too, then they would be the juiciest cherries on top of the cake.”
The boss herself – Little Lady Luscious
I think the obvious answer is ballet dancing Darth Vader at the Royal Albert Hall.  The tiniest Darth Vader in that epic venue would be amazing!
Character Comedian – Gemma Layton
“I would most like to perform either with the League of Gentlemen or in front of Rick Astley (the latter purely as a way to dazzle him and seduce him).”
Burlesque Beauty – Ruby Panther
“I’d really like to go back to the strange little hotel I first saw a burlesque competition in, to bring things full circle and maybe even inspire someone else to get involved in this wonderful world.”
The gorgeous – Purrsia Kitt
Picture: Carl Manners
“I would love to perform somewhere on Broadway someday if the right opportunity came along.”
And our new Compere beyond Compare Paulus!
Picture: James Millar

“As many of you know, Bette Midler is my spirit animal, so I’d like to perform one day in a bath-house/sauna just like she did when she was first starting out. I would like said bath-house to be populated entirely by the cast of Orange Is The New Black wearing nothing but white fluffy towels. Tunnocks tea cakes will be served at half time.”

This month Stormina has been wandering around Nude – Yes that’s right; her full foof and everything at Hooray Cabaret’s 6th Birthday show at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club. Everyone who follows this blog, and I know everyone does, knows that Stormina loves a themed show and always enjoys a Hooray.

For this show, in aid of Cancer Research, they choose to celebrate their birthday in their birthday suits with almost all acts (Dave the Bear you let us down…) appearing fully nude and audience encouraged to do the same.

Hooray always has a really appealing mixture of comedy, cabaret and games. This month there was a mixture of five comedians, all fully nude and burlesque, fire and boylesque. Highlights included, Glory Pearl opened with a stunning striptease, despite being fully nude from the very beginning, A comedian performing a full routine of characters and impressions; entirely in the nude and Onyx Fatale (Twix) who was running the tech for the show, breaking out of the booth at the end to strip off and dance to Rihanna’s cake.

All is held together, nominally, by Victoria Kember, a co-producer of the show, who after getting the audience to strip her during a game of pass the parcel at the very top of the show, stayed naked throughout and demanded the full attention of the audience for her vagina for the rest of the night. She was funny, charming and outrageous and made the chaos that is a Hooray Cabaret seem normal and even necessary.

Stage Manager’s mention

This month’s Hooray was a really challenging one for the Stage Manager, Sirene Fox, with a ketchup covered stage first up after the interval. She was excellent at her job and all she had to put up with in the ensuing mayhem…

Also, full points for wearing bows all over her bum in a makeshift bustle. Yes.

Stormina’s top 3 moments

3.“I know it” The angriest thespian I have ever seen, when the audience started to join in on his rendition of To Be or Not To Be.

2.Glory Pearl getting stuck in her corset during her burlesque act. Handled with such poise, like one of the greats of our industry.

Food or Body Part – the best game of the night. Where a victim from the audience was pulled onto the stage, blindfolded and had either pieces of food or body parts placed into their hands to guess whether it was food or body part. Stitches.

The day has finally come – we’re announcing the lineup for the Luscious Cabaret Holiday Show which is happening in August. We’re so excited to be announcing a stunning lineup of never performed (or barely performed) material.

Continuing our unsung heroes, meet our debonaire doorman the absolutely sensational Al J Jacob.  What does he get up when he’s not at Luscious Cabaret?  Read on to find out more …

What do you do outside of Luscious Cabaret?

Outside of LushCab I can be found screaming encouragement to some of our other Cabaret n Burley friends at various shows all over London, Ipswich, or the South Coast!

I get about a bit.

Or I’m helping friends put together acts n shows, helping promote their stuff, or getting people in touch with each other to do all of the above!

Anything that helps helps  .

What is an average day for Al J Jacob?

I NEVER have an average day. Ever!

I work in a Female environment selling lingerie and sex toys…and that’s as “boring” as my day gets!!

On a normal day outside the muggle-job n CabaretWorld I’m in the gym or doing something I’ve never done before. When in Rome etc.

Do you remember the first Cabaret show that you went to see?

My first show; unforgettable.

My Burlesque Cherry was well n truly popped by Raven Noir doing a ‘Red-Witch’ strip with Isis wings.

Then Doc LeRoc’s Wolverine, Roxi Kixx as Harley Quinn, Ruthy as the Joker, and Jeanie Wishes’ now famous Poison Ivy act all at ‘Cabaret Roulette: Super Heroes’.

It was Love at first sight.

What do you love most about Cabaret?

OhmiGod – that’s impossible to answer!

The creativity. The underlying messages. The Windows into the Souls of the performer. The costumes. The family feeling. The elation of the crowd. The excitement building as we get to curtain-up. The Dressing-room banter!

We see you at almost every Cabaret show in London.  What are your top 5 cabaret shows to see in London?

Top 5: dang…

IN London…

LushCab (obvs).

The Cocoa Butter Club.

The Curtain Club.

Savage n Sons.

…I’ll probably change my mind n have to extend it to a Top10.

What is your most memorable moment from a Luscious Cabaret show?

My Most memorable LushCab moment would HAVE to be when you said to our Michael Twaits “Just make it as camp as ya like!” at the end of the last show n boy oh boy did it get camp.

C’mon, people were table dancing!!!

We see you snapping and tagging various cabaret nights out on social media which is your favourite picture & why?

pfffft I usually get a favourite pic each night!

I know how much time, money, n effort you all put into your performances so I just wanna help immortalise those moments with you, and if you like what you see then it’s a HUGE honour that you repost n use anything I’ve shared.

I will never ask a penny from any of my friends.

I just want to see every single last one of y’all succeed – again, absolutely anything to help.

However, I got an awesome shot of Kiki Lovechild being pounced on by Velociraptors

Can you describe Luscious Cabaret in three words?

Camp! (Like that weird Uncle we all have!!)

Why did you start performing?

Performing combines my passion for dancing and creativity. It gives me the opportunity to show a different side of me and it feels like I complete myself to feel a different level of happiness.

Do you remember your first time on stage? How did that go?

My first Burlesque performance to an audience was my graduation show at House of Burlesque. I was so nervous but also very eager to go on stage. I loved every second and couldn’t believe how fast it was over.

Of all of your acts, which is your favourite to perform?

My signature “Money act” is so rewarding when the audience starts singing “Hey big spender…”

But also my “Lazy/Shower” act is

What sets you apart from other performers?

I tend to be more quiet backstage as I’m always focused to get all preparation done.

Love to have a giggle but first all has to be organised and ready. Typical German.

What do you think is people’s first impression of you?

I haven’t asked that question before, but the feedback often was that they feel inspired. Showing a lot of skin having a curve body like a women, not a top model, brings desire to the surface and women feeling motivated to book a class soon.

What’s your favourite thing about cabaret?

There is no limit of creativity, age and beauty. You can be surprised every time.

How did you choose your stage name?

My stage name is a combination of my actual last name which is Nöbel. Coco was the perfect combination for elegance, classic and glamorous to build my character. Once I was called on stage as “Coco Chanel”.

What’s your next challenge in life or in performing?

My challenge is to find a better work and performance balance. I like to come up with a new idea to manage my double life.

Join us on Friday for an absolutely awesome night of Cabaret with Onyx Fatale, Dolly Trolley & Valerie Savage, Holly Dun-Something, Diva Regina, Kiki Mellék all hosted by the fabulous Michael Twaits!
